2011 TTG Gloucester Triathlon - COMPETITOR INFORMATION

Dear Competitor,

The below information has been emailed to the email address provided at registration. Should you not have received this for some reason, please find the information repeated below.

Please read the full content of this message. All the information contained in this document is important and will help you enjoy the race safely.  This information is also available at 2011 Gloucester Triathlon.

Race Pack

Your race pack will be given to you at registration and will contain:

  • Race number
  • Bike tag
  • Goodie bag

Race numbers must be worn front and back or with a number belt. We send nothing by post in advance of race day.

Agenda

Sunday, May 21st

8:00 am Registration open

9:00 am Race starts

Arrival and Parking

Parking will be available in the school car park for early birds. The main parking is clearly signposted and can be found past the sports centre on the right at Brockworth Rugby Club or further down on the left at a local council site. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE DO NOT PARK ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, as this road gets very congested with race traffic and parked cars make the whole area dangerous.

Registration

Registration opens from 8am. Please attach your bike label to your seat post before entering transition. This will speed up entry and retrieval.

Race Briefing

You will be given a race briefing on pool side when you will also be handed your timing chip and swim hat. Thus it is of upper most importance that you arrive on pool side at least 15 minutes before your start time. Start times are available at the following web link. http://www.triteamglos.co.uk/files/2011_GT_START_TIMES.xls.

Transition

Before entering transition, your bike and helmet will be checked. NO HELMET, NO RACE. In transition, rack your bike in your assigned space. Please leave your equipment tidy. You must have your race number with you at all times when entering transition or you will be refused entry. You must also have your race number with you when you come to collect your bike or the marshal will not let you take it until all other bikes have been collected. Transition is a secure area and will be marshalled at all times.

Swim Start

Swim start times are available to view at the following web link. http://www.triteamglos.co.uk/files/2011_GT_START_TIMES.xls. The swim is 400 metres, 16 lengths of the pool. The swim starts in the water and only breaststroke and front crawl are allowed. When you have 2 lengths remaining, the lap counters will inform you by using a board marked ‘2’ placed in the water at the end of your 14th length. When you have finished, leave your swim hat behind and leave via the marked door. Do not run whilst in the pool area.

Bike Leg

Full map of route is located at http://www.triteamglos.co.uk/track/Race_Routes.

There will be two laps. There is a potentially hazardous junction at the bottom of Vicarage Lane turning left on to Ermin Street (you will ride through this junction twice). The junction will be marshalled and there is a mandatory foot-down to minimise this risk. There will be a two-minute time penalty imposed if the mandatory foot-down is not adhered to. Please ask at registration if you are unsure about these instructions.

Drafting

The motorcycle referees on the course have been asked to be extremely vigilant. Those caught drafting will have time penalties imposed. If you are unsure, check the drafting rules on the BTF website.

Drafting is cheating.

Run Leg

Full map of route is located at http://www.triteamglos.co.uk/track/Race_Routes.

The run course is also two laps totalling 6km.

Bike Retrieval

You may not remove your bike without your race number.

Failure to comply with these rules or disregarding marshal’s requests may lead to disqualification.

Results and prize giving

Interim results will be available at various times throughout the day. We intend to provide a full set of results with splits before the end of the day. The final results will available on the website either on the same day or the following morning (www.triteamglos.co.uk). Results announcements and prize giving will be quickly as possible after the last competitor has completed the race (about 15 minutes).
